My favorite hiking, backpacking, and outdoor items on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday!

I always  like to start off these sale lists with the caveat that – if you don’t need something, don’t take this as your sign to buy it! If you already have something that works, there’s no need to constantly upgrade to the newest, shiniest toy.

However, if you are looking to treat yourself, send a gift to a backpacker in your life, or replace some gear that has seen one too many miles, my favorite time to do that is while it’s on sale! Plus, reading these lists from people I trusted is what helped me outfit my gear closet for far less than buying everything at full price. So, here are some of my favorite hiking, backpacking, fishing, skiing, and other outdoor gear that is on sale this Black Friday / Cyber Monday!

If you use these links to purchase, I earn a commission at no cost to you. I appreciate the support and hope you find something you love and need (or want to gift)!

Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles - $50 off

These trekking poles have appeared in many of my gear reviews, because I have used them for well over 5,000 miles of hiking and backpacking. I bought them before the PCT in 2019 and have used them ever since (including on my 2022 CDT thru-hike). They have also been used to pitch my tent every night on those thru-hikes. You can elongate their life by replacing the tips when they get worn down, which I have done 2 or 3 times.

The Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles are currently on sale through Black Diamond for $50 off. They will also be on sale through Garage Grown Gear for 10% off

Cnoc Outdoors -10% off

Cnoc has a variety of 10% off sales going on through Garage Grown Gear. I use the 2L Vecto for my bladder. This is especially useful for desert hikes where you need more capacity. I also find filtering from the bladder to be WAY easier than squeezing a smart water bottle (as I have done for far too long). Now that I have the Vecto, I can’t/won’t go back.

I also use the Cnoc Vesica as a replacement for smart water bottles. It’s nice because you can collapse it when you’re done, so if you are carrying a ton of water for a desert hike you can collapse your capacity after you go through it. It’s also more durable and meant to be reused, unlike smart water bottles.

Finally, I use the 750 ml Hydriam Collapsible flasks, 4 inch quick straws, and the quick connect caps for hydration in my running vest. I love being able to drink from my flasks without having to pull them out or bend my kneck over super far. I’m able to also secure the straws to my running so they don’t flop around while I’m running. The 750 ml option also gives me slightly more capacity for longer runs.

Garmin InReach Mini 2  - $100 off

The Garmin InReach Mini 2 is currently $100 off at REI! I talk more in depth about my use of the Garmin InReach Mini in several of my videos (here too). While the SOS feature is great by itself, I like the Garmin Inreach Mini for several other uses: checking the weather, communicating with hiking partners while in the backcountry, and as a navigation backup. Phones with satellite capabilities may eventually phase out it’s usefulness, but for now the InReach still win in overall features and I’ll keep bringing it with me for the foreseeable future.

Garmin Instinct Solar 2 GPS Watch — 25%, $100 off (sale ends 12/31)

LOVE this watch. Josh, my fiance, converted me into being a watch person and I used this to track my entire CDT thru-hike, plus every training run for my first ultra, and a bunch of other activities in between.

The solar makes the battery last way longer. I can track two full hiking days (24+ hours of tracking) before I need to charge. If I’m not actively tracking, the battery seemingly never dies.

I talk more in depth about this watch in this video.

Repair Kit by Gear Aid - 20% off

This Repair Kit by Gear Aid (which is 20% off through Garage Grown Gear), is a great stocking stuffer or replacement if you’ve gone through some of your repair kit in the last few years. I always carry a few fabric patches with me in the back country and they have saved my butt on more than one occasion.

Gold Dome Umbrella by Gossamer Gear - 10% off

I am in love with carrying an umbrella on sunny, desert hikes with little shade. It helps immensely with sun protection and can lower the feel of hiking temps by several degrees. I mention a sun umbrella often as one of my favorite pieces of gear. If you are heading out to New Mexico on the CDT, the desert of the PCT, or other desert hikes — an umbrella is a must have.

NiteCore Nu20 Headlamp — 10% off

I have used the NiteCore Nu20 headlamp for over 5 years and 5,000+ miles. This thing is so reliable, so lightweight, and so BRIGHT. It’s perfect for night hiking alone or with buddies. I take it out for uphill skiing at night as well and on every camping and hiking trip I do. It’s still going strong after so much use and it’s very affordable (and only 1.3 oz.)!!!! I recommend this headlamp to EVERYONE.

Sambob Microgrid Hoodie — 10% off

Now is your chance to get your hands on a colorful, cozy Sambob Microgrid Hoodie. I get compliments on mine every single time I wear it and it is SO cozy. I wear a narrow medium. This would also make a great gift for any backpacker, hiker, or person in your life who simply enjoys a good fleece. Plus, you don’t have to wait 10 months for an appointment.

Sawyer MicroSqueeze — 10% off

I’ve been a big fan of Sawyer filters since the PCT, where I started with the Mini. The flow rate of the Micro is very comparable to the regular squeeze for an ounce less of weight. When my old squeeze had seen a few too many nasty water sources, I upgrade to the Micro and I have been loving it. Sawyer has a few recommendations on their blog for how to elongate the life of your filters, and I highly recommend following those to keep yours in working order for years!

WindMaster Stove by Soto Outdoors— 10% Off

When my old go-to stove bit the dust twice on one thru-hike (meaning I bought a replacement and the replacement broke too), I was looking for an upgrade. The Windmaster by Soto has been an incredible and reliable replacement. It’s also very light at 3.07 oz. with the 4-flex pot support. If you want to be a UL nerd like me, you can by a 3-flex pot support and shave an extra ounce.

I review the Soto WindmMaster stove in this video as well.

Summit Bum Classic Fanny Pack by Thrupack — 10% off

Two things I really love as a backpacker? Supporting small businesses and stylish fanny packs. Thrupack is the perfect way for me to get both of those things. I carried my summit bum for the entire CDT and still take it out (probably needs a good wash but hey, I’m hiker trash). The fabric is waterproof which is great for hiding my phone and camera during downpours. Add a comfy strap and make it extra pleasant to wear even with a hip belt.

Ursack — 15% off

An Ursack is the best addition I’ve made to my backcountry kitchen in quite some time. I used to think it was too redundant with a bear can, and I was too stubborn to invest in one. But when I was planning for the Pfiffner Traverse two summers ago, I learned Rocky Mountain National Park would allow Ursacks (with an aluminum liner) OR Bear Cans as food storage. On an off trail trip with 8 days of food — every ounce counts and I finally caved. Now, I bring my Ursack on basically every single trip, even if food storage isn’t required. It gives me peace of mind that bears, and mini-bears (mice, rodents) won’t get into my food overnight.

I also talk about the Ursack in this video.
